Gates

Gates built in our own yard, then hung to fit.

Custom gate design, driveway, sliding, swing, walk and wooden gates, fabricated off our own racks on Academy Parkway and hung to the opening in front of us, not to a catalogue number.

Chapter 01

A custom gate starts as a drawing, not a catalogue number

Custom gate design here means the gate is fabricated in our own yard at 3807 Academy Parkway North NE, off our own racks of tube stock and powder coated panels, not ordered in from a supplier and dropped at the property. That is the biggest difference between a gate we build and one bought off a shelf.

It also means a gate can be drawn to answer the opening in front of us rather than the other way around. If the driveway is narrow, or the wall is short, or the slope is wrong for a swing, that gets solved on paper before any steel is cut.

Driveway, sliding, swing, walk and wooden gates

Driveway gate installation, sliding gate installation, swing gate installation, manual gate installation and wooden gate installation each answer a different opening. A sliding gate suits a tight approach where a swing has nowhere to arc. A driveway gate on a slope needs a different hang than one on flat ground.

One job in our own record shows what that looks like in practice: a taller gate design that could not go up until a low wall was raised first to carry it, fabricated and installed once the wall was ready, alongside a short run of wooden fence raised on the other side of the same property to keep a dog in the yard. The gate answered the site, not a standard size.

Chapter 03

Hanging is where a gate is won or lost

Manual gate installation, wrought iron gate installation and wooden gate installation all come down to the same thing at the end: a hinge and a hang that carries the weight of the gate for years, not just on the day it goes up. Hinge work gets the same attention as the fabrication.

And once a gate is ours, gate repair stays available on it afterward. A gate we hung is a gate we will come back and adjust, not one that becomes someone else's problem the day the crew leaves.
